Workshop is held in the Studio at Purlin' J's Yarn Emporium, 2-675 Arlington Park Place, Kingston, Ontario.

Maximum 8 participants.

Learn to knit socks cuff-down on four double-pointed needles or DPNs in this two-session workshop.

Learn the mathematics of sock construction while mastering knitting with double- pointed needles.

You learn a stretchy cast-on, how to manipulate several needles at a time, and how to turn a heel.

Prerequisites:

You need to know how to knit and purl with some confidence. This class is suitable for advanced beginners.

Materials required:

  • Set of 2.5mm DPNs and
  • Fingering-weight yarn. The pattern is supplied.

The sample socks shown used approximately 60m of yarn for an infant size. (The pattern can be easily adapted for an adult and requires a 100g skein.)

About the Instructor:

Carol Gee has been a passionate knitter for 40 years and has been teaching others to knit for 39. She started teaching her friends how to make Icelandic knit sweaters in the 1980s, managed a Lewiscraft store for a couple of years, worked at a yarn shop in Perth for several years, and have test knit for a yarn company and a few designers . She enjoys working with people, especially when she can share her love of knitting and fibre. She have been living in Kingston for three years, and is looking forward to meeting everyone!
