Workshop is held in the Studio at Purlin' J's Yarn Emporium, 2-675 Arlington Park Place, Kingston, Ontario.
Saturday 5 November: 10:00 - 12:00 Noon AND
Saturday 19 November: 10:00 - 12:00 Noon
Maximum 8 participants.
This workshop is an introduction to knitting toy making and uses a beginner pattern (Christmas Winter Mouse by Ekaterina Popova) to teach the tricks and skills for an adorable finished toy.
In the first session, you will get started on the mouse construction. The second session covers the skills to piece the mouse together, embroider a variety of facial expressions and begin clothing creation.
The mouse can be knit flat and pieced together, or knit in the round for seamless edges. Both methods will be taught.
Students must be comfortable with the knit and purl stitches, and casting on and casting off. Some experience with knitting in the round is recommended if this is your choice.
Supplies to Bring:
2.75 double pointed needles (DPN's)
OR 2.75 mm, 16" or 24" circular needle.
Be sure whatever needles you choose that the tips are sharp. Metal needles are sharper than wood or bamboo.
Small amounts of fingering weight yarn will be provided. Feel free to bring your own fingering yarn if desired.
