Workshop is held in the Studio at Purlin' J's Yarn Emporium, 2-675 Arlington Park Place, Kingston, Ontario.

Saturday 4 February: 10:00 - 1:00 pm

Maximum 8 participants.

Celtic Cables Dishcloth: Learn how to turn cables, while creating a piece of knitting that you can use every day! In this three-hour class, you will learn six different cable stitches and how to follow a cable chart. The pattern is free on Ravelry, although copies will be provided along with some instructional print-outs. The in-store sample is knit with Universal Yarn's "Clean Cotton".

Prerequisites:

Students must be comfortable with the knit and purl stitches. Class is suitable for confident beginners!

Supplies to Bring:

4.5 mm needles (straight or 60 cm circular), 1 - 50g ball of yarn (Clean Cotton recommended), and a cable needle.

Options: A scarf, using the cable pattern from the dishcloth, repeated several times (until you reach the length of scarf desired). Fingering weight yarn and 3 mm needles are required. A pillow cover, or afghan square: Bulky yarn and 6 mm needles will produce a 12" square.

It is strongly recommended that you use solid or tonal colours for this cable class. Busy variegated yarns will make it difficult to see your stitches; you don't want to do all that work and have it unnoticeable!

You can purchase your supplies at the beginning of the workshop. However, please have yarn wound in to a cake (if necessary) before the beginning of class.

About the Instructor:

Carol Gee has been a passionate knitter for 40 years and has been teaching others to knit for 39. She started teaching her friends how to make Icelandic knit sweaters in the 1980s, managed a Lewiscraft store for a couple of years, worked at a yarn shop in Perth for several years, and have test knit for a yarn company and a few designers . She enjoys working with people, especially when she can share her love of knitting and fibre. She have been living in Kingston for three years, and is looking forward to meeting everyone!
