The Almonte FibreFest takes place 7 & 8 September in two locations: the Mississippi Valley Textile Museum, and the Almonte Community Centre. Visitors will find demonstrations, vendors, and exhibits. Local guilds will demonstrate spinning, knitting, weaving, rug hooking, lace making, smocking and quilting. Vendors include spinners, weavers, and fibre artists from across the province, as well as quilt shops, alpaca farms, and the Purlin' J's yarntruck! North Market Cafe (78 Mill Street, Almonte) will provide a tea room onsite, featuring homemade goodies, beverages and sandwiches. Admission: $6/day that includes access to all sites. It's a busy weekend for Lil Dorothy, Purlin' J's yarntruck. On Saturday November 5 she's in Prince Edward County at the Jackson's Falls Inn in Milford (1768 County Rd. #17) from 11:30 am to 2:30 pm. Then, on Sunday, November 6, plan to attend the Cheerfully Made Holiday Market (formerly Handmade Harvest Craft Show) from 10am to 4pm at the Almonte Old Town Hall (15 Bridge Street.) The show happens on Saturday as well, but the yarntruck appears on Sunday only. Admission is $2, kids under 16 are free. Parking is free. Free Swag Bags filled with goodies go to the first 50 shoppers in line each day!
